Data Driven Websites

A fellowship of five adventurers studying a map by lantern light

Guessing at how your website is performing and adjusting your marketing strategy accordingly is like planning for battle against all of Mordor without knowing their intensions, how large their forces are, or where they’re moving them to. It’s just not very effective. In a similar since, Google Analytics’ dashboard can be overwhelming if you’re not a marketing professional, if you don’t know how to use it, or if you don’t know where to go to view it. That’s why ArkenSites makes your website’s most useful information easier to understand. Every ArkenSites website includes Google Analytics, and we turn that data into a simple report available right on your own website. No complicated dashboard to learn. No digging through charts and menus. Just the information you need to understand how your website is performing.

Why It’s Important

No More Guessing

Most business owners don’t really know how their website is performing. You know people are visiting, and you may have a general feeling that the website is helping your business, but it’s difficult to know exactly how much. Analytics puts real numbers behind that feeling. You can see how many people visited your website, whether traffic is increasing or decreasing, and what those visitors did once they arrived. Instead of guessing whether your website is working, you can see the results for yourself.

Your Best Pages

Not every page on your website gets the same amount of attention. Your homepage might bring in most of your visitors, while another page could be quietly driving people away as soon as they arrive. Analytics helps you see which pages are getting attention and which ones may need some work. Once you know what your customers are actually reading, you can spend your time improving the pages that matter most.

Marketing Money

If you’re spending money on Google Ads, maintaining social media, printing your website address on signs, or promoting your business in other ways, it’s reasonable to ask whether those efforts are bringing people to your website. Analytics shows you where your visitors came from. You can see how many people found you through a search engine, followed a link from another website, or came directly to your web address. That gives you a better idea of what’s working and where your marketing efforts are actually sending customers.

Phones & Laptops

ArkenSites builds websites to work across phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers, but it’s still useful to know which devices your customers are actually using. If most of your visitors are coming from smartphones, for example, that tells you something important about how your website should be designed. Important information should be easy to find, buttons should be easy to tap, and large blocks of text may need to be broken up. Instead of guessing how your customers are browsing, analytics lets you see it.

Worth the Money

A website is an investment, and you should be able to see whether that investment is doing its job. Looking at your website traffic month after month gives you a simple way to measure progress. You might see a big increase after a marketing campaign, a steady climb as more people discover your business through search, or a month where traffic stayed flat. Not every number will go up every month, and that’s okay. The important thing is knowing what’s happening so you can make better decisions about what to do next.

Features of Analytics

Your Own Page

Every ArkenSites website includes Google Analytics 4, and the account collecting your data belongs to you. What we add is an easier way to actually read that information. We pull the most useful numbers from Google Analytics and place them on a simple page at your own web address:

yourdomain.com/site-analytics

You don’t have to learn the Google Analytics dashboard or figure out where everything is located. Just visit your report page and see the information that matters.

NOTE: Your analytics page isn’t listed in your website’s navigation or search results, but also isn’t password protected either. For that reason, we recommend treating the address like a private link and not posting it publicly.

Six Numbers

At the top of your report, you’ll find six of the most useful website statistics:

  • Sessions - How many visits your website received
  • Users - How many people visited
  • New Users - How many visitors were new to your website
  • Page Views - How many pages were viewed
  • Bounce Rate - How often visitors left without continuing through the site
  • Average Visit Duration - How long visitors typically stayed

Each number also shows how it changed compared with the previous 30 days. Simple arrows and percentage changes make it easy to see whether things are moving in the right direction. Even bounce rate is handled for you. Because a lower bounce rate is generally a good thing, the report marks a decrease as positive rather than making you figure out whether "down" is good or bad.

Pages & Charts

Below the main numbers, you’ll find a list of your 15 busiest pages, showing how many sessions and page views each received along with its bounce rate. Three simple charts then give you a bigger picture of your website:

  1. Traffic Sources show how people found your website, such as through search engines, other websites, or direct visits.
  2. Devices show how many visitors came from phones, tablets, and computers.
  3. 30-Day Traffic shows your sessions and users across the entire previous month, making it easy to spot busy periods, slow stretches, and changes in traffic.

Together, these give you a quick snapshot of what’s happening across your website without making you sort through a complicated analytics dashboard.

Our Process

Setup

Analytics is installed when your website launches, rather than being something you have to remember to add later. We connect Google Analytics to your website, set up Google Search Console, submit your sitemap, and generate your first analytics report. That means your website is ready to start collecting information from day one. It takes a few weeks of visitors before the numbers become useful, but once your site has some traffic, you’ll have real data to work with.

Reporting

Once everything is set up, your analytics report takes care of itself. Our system automatically rebuilds your report overnight on the first day of every month, using the previous 30 days of website data. You don’t have to log in, run a report, or remember to update anything. Because the report is designed as a monthly look at your website’s performance, the numbers remain consistent between updates rather than constantly changing throughout the day. Think of it as a monthly checkup for your website.

Answers

When you want to dig deeper, we can pull information directly from your analytics data across different measurements and categories, including pages, cities, devices, traffic sources, and more. we can look at up to 10,000 rows of data across whatever date range you’re interested in. And if you need a fresh report before the next scheduled update, we can rebuild it for you right away. You shouldn’t have to become an analytics expert just to understand whether your website is working. That’s what we’re here for.
