Your website is often one of the first places a potential customer encounters your business. If the site won’t load, shows a security warning, or looks like something is wrong, most people won’t stop to figure out what happened. They’ll simply leave. Keeping your website available, secure, and working properly isn’t just about technology. It’s about protecting the trust you’ve already earned with your customers.

Finding Out Last

Here’s the uncomfortable part: when something goes wrong with a small business website, the owner is often the last person to know. You’re probably not sitting on your website all day checking to make sure it works. Your customers are the ones visiting it.

ArkenSites automatically checks every hosted website from the outside every five minutes. If your website stops responding, we get an alert so we can investigate. We’d much rather find out from our monitoring system than have you find out because a customer couldn’t reach your website.

Your Inbox

Your contact form is an important connection between you and your customers, but it’s also an easy target for automated spam bots. Without protection, a form can quickly become flooded with junk messages. Eventually, legitimate customer inquiries can get buried among hundreds of spam submissions.

ArkenSites puts multiple layers of protection in front of every contact form we build. Automated submissions are screened before they reach your inbox, and we limit how frequently a single visitor can submit a form. That means less junk for you to sort through and a better chance of seeing the messages that actually matter.

Mistakes Happen

Not every website problem comes from a hacker. Sometimes someone accidentally deletes the wrong page. A price gets changed and the old version is needed again. An edit gets saved that someone wishes they could undo. Mistakes happen. That’s why we keep dated copies of your website content every evening, along with an additional backup before major changes are made. If something goes wrong, we have a way to get your content back instead of asking you to recreate it from memory.

One Less Job

You didn’t start your business so you could spend your time managing web servers. Someone has to keep software updated, maintain security certificates, monitor the website, protect contact forms, and deal with problems when they happen. Because ArkenSites hosts the websites we build, that responsibility stays with us. When your website needs an update or something needs attention, you tell us and we take care of it. That’s one less technical job you have to keep track of.

Isolation

Every ArkenSites website we host runs in its own isolated environment. Each site has its own process, database, log files, and security keys. Those security keys are generated specifically for each website, so they’re never shared or reused between clients.

We also place a memory limit on each individual site. If one website ever starts using an unusual amount of resources or behaving incorrectly, it can be restarted without taking down the other websites running on the same server. It’s another layer of separation designed to keep one website’s problems from becoming everyone else’s problems.

HTTPS Everywhere

That little padlock you see next to a website address represents an important part of website security. HTTPS encrypts the connection between your visitors and your website, helping prevent someone else from intercepting the information being sent between them. Every ArkenSites website uses HTTPS across the entire site.

We also use Cloudflare in front of your website and maintain encryption between Cloudflare and our own servers, protecting both sides of the connection. In other words, we don’t just secure the visitor’s connection to the front door. We secure the connection all the way back to the server hosting your website.

Form Screening

Your contact form doesn’t send messages directly to your inbox the moment someone clicks "Submit." Instead, submissions pass through a security layer first. Before a message reaches you, our system checks that the visitor passed the anti-bot protection, confirms that the request came from your website, limits how frequently a visitor can submit the form, and cleans the information before turning it into an email. Nothing can completely prevent someone from intentionally entering nonsense into a form, but these protections do a great job of stopping the automated spam that causes most of the trouble. The goal is simple: keep the junk away from your inbox so you can focus on the messages that come from real customers.

Build

Every new ArkenSites website starts in its own isolated environment with its own database and security keys. While we’re building your site, it stays behind a password. That keeps unfinished pages, placeholder content, and work-in-progress designs away from both search engines and the public. You get to review the finished website before we ever make it publicly available.

Launch

Once you approve your website, we take care of the technical work needed to put it online securely. We connect your domain through Cloudflare, activate the certificate that encrypts the connection to our server, and switch your contact form over to its live security settings. Once everything is ready, we remove the temporary password, make the finished website available to visitors and search engines, and activate our external monitoring system. From that point forward, your website is automatically checked every five minutes.

Maintain

After your website launches, most of the security work happens quietly in the background. Your server automatically receives operating system security updates as they’re released. When an update requires a restart, we schedule it during an overnight maintenance window whenever possible. Your website content is also backed up to a dated file every evening, giving us a recent copy to work from if something ever needs to be restored. And if your website stops responding, our monitoring system alerts us so we can investigate the problem.

You don’t need to monitor your website, keep track of security patches, or wonder whether everything is still working.
